Are you aged between 14 – 20 years old, and looking to try some volunteering over the Summer Holidays?  If so, we have a number of opportunities available for young people.

Befriending in Sheltered Housing

Befriending involves helping to deliver activities in Sheltered Housing.  The older residents may be isolated or have dementia, so this is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to go into a career in care, or who wants to gain volunteering experience with an older generation.

Volunteering with the gardening project involves participating in sessions at Vogrie Country Park, and/or development of a community garden in Dalkeith.  This is an ideal opportunity for anyone looking to learn about gardening, landscaping and growing fruit/veg.

Volunteering with Children in Local Playschemes/Libraries

Volunteering with children involves helping to deliver fun activities during the summer holidays.  Volunteer Centre Midlothian have linked up with MAP and Midlothian Libraries to help them to deliver their summer programmes.  This opportunity is ideal for anyone looking for a career in childcare or teaching.
