Who we are & what we do
We are part of a network of Volunteer Centres working across Scotland. There is at least one Volunteer Centre in each local authority area. We act as a “job centre” for volunteers.
Our aim is to link the skills, experience and enthusiasm of local people who wish to volunteer with organisations who involve volunteers in their work. We also work with organisations to ensure that volunteers are working in a safe and supportive environment.
We do this by:
- Encouraging and enabling people in Midlothian to be involved in volunteering and benefit from the experience
- Identifying; reducing and taking action to overcome barriers to volunteering
- Working with organisations to raise standards to enable them to welcome, value and give guidance and support to volunteers
- Measuring the value and impact of volunteering and recognising this in local and national policy development and community planning.
- Reviewing, developing and continuously improving the organisation
